Japan shows 'The Cove' after delay from protests
“The Cove,” an Oscar-winning film about a Japanese dolphin-hunting village, opened Saturday around Japan after protests by angry nationalists pressured theaters to cancel earlier showings.
Some of the six small cinemas sold out their initial shows and others were mostly empty. Another 18 are due to begin screening the film at later dates.
I am glad that the Japanese are finally able to see this movie and use some critical thinking skills to determine the validity of the arguments presented. Merely hiding this from the Japanese populace surrounded by an argument of sympathy towards the eco-terrorists and animosity against the Taiji fisherman is a cop-out.
All I ask is that people are allowed to decide for themselves.
